Lleida is facing early summer heat, with temperatures already above 34°C and more hot weather forecast for the weekend. The timing matters for the city, as it coincides with the start of the Aplec del Caragol in Lleida.

According to the Meteorological Service of Catalonia, temperatures reached 34.4°C in Alcarràs, 34.1°C in Vilanova de Segrià, 33.6°C in Castellnou de Sena, and 33.5°C in Gimenells and Torres de Segre. The readings were taken on Thursday, 21 May 2026, ahead of the festival opening on Friday, 22 May 2026.

Mountain areas also saw unusually warm conditions. La Seu d’Urgell reached 30°C, Vielha 26°C, Sort 29°C, and El Pont de Suert 27°C. Vielha, the capital of Val d’Aran, recorded a minimum of 11°C.

In the plain, temperatures also went above 30°C in Tremp, Balaguer, Tàrrega, Cervera, Mollerussa, and Les Borges Blanques. The forecast points to even hotter conditions through the weekend, with temperatures in the Lleida plain potentially reaching 36°C on Friday and staying high on Saturday and Sunday.
