Lleida is at the centre of a complaint filed by a driving school against a traffic examiner, after a student was allegedly told to continue her practical driving test despite suffering an anxiety attack. The complaint was lodged by a teacher from Autoescola San Juan with the Provincial Traffic Headquarters.
According to the written complaint, the incident happened on 11 June 2026 at about 13:00, while the examiner was supervising two students. The route went through narrow streets and a complex road layout, including an intersection with two consecutive stop signs.
The school says the student placed her vehicle in a lane that the examiner considered incorrect, facing the wrong way. It says this led to an immediate emotional reaction, followed by crying, emotional blockage and clear difficulty continuing the test.
The complaint states that the test went on despite the student's distress. It also says that later, in Vilanova de Segrià, the student had to stop the vehicle and leave it because of her anxiety, with help from others present.
Autoescola San Juan says the complaint is intended to alert the Traffic Headquarters to what it sees as a lack of empathy, sensitivity and proper handling of a vulnerable situation during an official test. The school also says its teachers have raised concerns before about attitudes they consider distant, authoritarian or disrespectful.
The school has asked for the complaint to be accepted and added to the relevant record. It wants the events assessed and, if needed, for internal action to be taken. For background on local transport and road safety reporting, see our news coverage and the DGT.
