Lleida hosted its annual Aplec del Caragol on 23 May 2026, bringing thousands of people to the city for the traditional snail festival. The event remains one of the main dates in Lleida’s cultural calendar, centred on food, community and local identity.
The festival was documented by photographer Pau Pascual Prat for Segre. The images showed the atmosphere of the day, with local residents and visitors taking part in the celebrations.
The Aplec del Caragol is a long-running Lleida tradition built around snail dishes prepared by local colles, or groups. Over time, it has grown from a small gathering into a major event that draws large crowds each year.
Alongside the food, organisers keep the festival family-friendly with activities and entertainment. The event also supports the local economy and helps promote Lleida’s traditions to visitors from across Catalonia and beyond.
