Barcelona now has a direct air link to Lima, Peru, after LEVEL launched its new route from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport on 3 June. The inaugural flight left at 13:55, marking the start of the only non-stop service between the two cities.
The airline said the route will provide about 80,000 seats between Barcelona and Lima until March 2027. According to Barcelona City Council, the service is intended to strengthen air links between Spain and Peru, two markets with long historical and cultural ties.
Flights will operate three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Departures from Barcelona are scheduled for 13:55, while flights from Lima will leave at 22:05 local time. LEVEL said the timetable is designed to support connections with other flights across Europe and America.
Officials said one in four passengers travelling to Lima via Barcelona connect from other cities in Spain and Europe, mainly Italy. The route uses LEVEL’s Airbus 330-200 aircraft, with up to 311 seats in Premium Economy and Economy. Passengers have individual screen entertainment with more than 400 content options, plus LEVEL’s Fly your Way service, which lets customers pre-order and customise parts of their trip.
The launch was supported by the Barcelona Air Route Development Committee, known as CDRA. Its members include Aena, the Government of Catalonia, Barcelona City Council and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce. The committee said the new route reinforces Barcelona’s role as an international gateway and supports intercontinental connectivity at the airport. More Catalonia news

The launch also included special activities for passengers, with a commemorative photo booth before boarding, a prize for the first passenger, customised headrests and a gift inspired by Peru in collaboration with Promperú. The inaugural menu included Peruvian dishes such as causa rellena and suspiro a la limeña. On the return journey, passengers were served dishes including pincho de tortilla de patatas con jamón y alioli and crema catalana for dessert.
On arrival in Lima, the aircraft, EC-NRH, was greeted with a water arch. The celebration continued in the terminal with a reception from the Promperú team. The Ambassador of Peru to Spain and the Consul of Peru in Barcelona were present at the boarding.
