Barcelona’s La Foixarda sports centre is set to get a new artificial turf pitch, with the Barcelona City Council putting €1 million into the upgrade.

The project will replace the existing pitch and is intended to modernise the facility for the clubs and local residents who use it. The council says the new surface should improve playing conditions and reduce maintenance needs.

La Foixarda is one of Barcelona’s key sports hubs, with training sessions and matches held there throughout the year. The upgrade is expected to benefit a wide range of users, from youth teams to adult leagues.

The council says the work forms part of a wider effort to update sports facilities across the city so they meet current standards. No timeline for the installation has been given yet.
