Josep Company Molar, the founder of Finques Company and a significant figure in the tourism and property transformation of Llançà and the northern Cap de Creus and Costa Brava, died on Tuesday, 12 May.
His death means the Alt Empordà region loses an entrepreneur who built his business from the ground up. Company started almost by chance, acting as an intermediary between local fishermen and early summer visitors to the area.
Shaping Costa Brava Tourism
Company's work eventually led him to establish one of the leading property brands in the Girona region, Finques Company. His efforts were central to the modern tourism that developed in the Costa Brava, particularly in Llançà and the Cap de Creus area, according to L'Empordà.
