In Figueres, mayor Jordi Masquef has announced that he will stand again in the 2027 municipal elections. He made the announcement on Friday, 29 May, at an event in Plaça de l'Estació, where he said his priorities for the city remain security and civility, cleanliness, facilities and the welfare state.

Masquef is representing Junts per Figueres. He said, “Governing means prioritising, and we have clear priorities for Figueres: security and civility, cleanliness, facilities, and the welfare state.”

Born in Figueres in 1980, Masquef is a lawyer and university lecturer. He has been mayor since June 2023, after his party won an absolute majority in the municipal elections.

His political work in the city began in 2012, when he became a councillor. He also previously held the mayoral office between 2018 and 2019, when he stepped in for Marta Felip.

Alongside his local role, Masquef has also served as deputy for sports at the Girona Provincial Council and is currently vice-president of the Costa Brava-Girona Tourism Board. For more Catalonia-wide local news, see our news page.
