Igualada hosted the 4th edition of the 'Professions of the Future' conference on Monday afternoon, bringing together around 50 second and third-year engineering students. The event, held at the University of Lleida's Pla de la Massa Campus auditorium, aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands.
Students heard from representatives of four local companies: Jordi Bernadet from Transports Bernadet and Bernadet Logístics, Víctor Bossa from PICVISA, Xavier Roca from Apliclor, and Francisco Ortiz and Marc Ortiz from INSERMA Anoia. These industry leaders shared insights into daily operations, highlighted key competencies valued in the workplace, and discussed how students can fit into the current job market.
The conference provided a direct opportunity for young engineers to understand the practical application of their studies and the soft skills that complement technical knowledge. Discussions covered the importance of attitude and specific abilities sought by employers in the Anoia region.
Connecting Students with Local Industry
The 'Professions of the Future' initiative, now in its fourth year, continues to strengthen ties between the University of Lleida and local businesses. It offers students a realistic perspective on their career paths and helps companies identify potential future talent from within the community. The programme aims to ensure graduates are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities in the engineering sector.
