The Balearic hotel chain Hidden Hotels has taken over the management of a five-star establishment at numbers 29-31 Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona, according to reports from Metrópoli Abierta. This move, first reported by Expansión, marks Hidden Hotels' official entry into the Catalan capital.
The property, previously operated by the American firm Sonder, is a 6,000 square metre building spread across six floors. Hidden Hotels, known for restoring historic buildings and high-end boutique hotels, will now manage the site.
Historic Building Renovation
The building, constructed in the late 19th century, is located near architectural landmarks such as Casa Batlló. Its historical value complements its prime location in the heart of Barcelona's luxury and Modernist architecture district.
For this new phase, Hidden Hotels has appointed designer Jean Porsche to lead the interior renovation. The aim is to align the space with the brand's standards of exclusivity and sophistication. The hotel will feature luxury rooms, a high-end restaurant on its main floor, and a rooftop intended to offer city views.
Long-Term Vision for Luxury Tourism
The Marcos family acquired the building in 1998. It has a history of hosting major operators, including the Catalan company Hotusa for nearly two decades. Carolina Marcos, deputy director at Alting, the real estate group partnering with Hidden Hotels, stated that this lease agreement reflects a long-term patrimonial vision. This vision focuses on preserving the identity of their properties while adapting to the current demands of the luxury tourism market.
With this addition, Hidden Hotels expands its portfolio to eight establishments. This consolidates its national growth following successes such as the Gran Hotel Inglés in Madrid and recent openings in Seville, Granada, and Palma.
