Granollers' municipal swimming pool complex officially reopened on 12 May 2026, after a major renovation. Jesús Naharro, Deputy for Sports at the Diputació de Barcelona, attended the inauguration of the refurbished V1 and V2 pools.
The Diputació contributed €2,152,000 to the project. This funding helped modernise an over 50-year-old building, addressing its previous obsolescence.
The renovation involved a partial demolition of the original structure. The stands, some changing rooms, and the multi-purpose room were kept. Workers built two new pools and extended the building's south façade. They also replaced the remaining façades and the roof. All water, electrical, and climate control systems were renewed.
Improving Facilities and Energy Efficiency
These improvements aim to meet current functional, safety, and energy efficiency needs for users. The updated complex provides a better experience for the community.
The Diputació de Barcelona's involvement aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 11, "Sustainable Cities and Communities", and 16, "Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions". The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed these 17 SDGs on 25 September 2015, as part of the global 2030 agenda. The Diputació is committed to these goals and supports local governments in the province in line with them.
The reopening marks a significant upgrade for sports facilities in Granollers, promising enhanced services for residents for years to come.
