Girona City Council has started legal proceedings to recover a municipal building on Carrer del Carme, number 56, after it was occupied for a year, officials confirmed. The property belongs to the council and was previously used for sign-making workshops and to store ballot boxes for municipal elections.
The move is linked to plans for the site’s eventual demolition. The land is earmarked for a pedestrian bridge over the Onyar river, connecting the Carme-Vista Alegre neighbourhood with Montilivi.
The bridge is one of the city’s planned infrastructure projects and is intended to improve links between both areas of Girona. Council plans say it would make travel between the neighbourhoods easier for residents.
