Girona City Council has ordered the emergency eviction of an occupied residential block on Ronda Ferran Puig, Girona, citing "very high risks to the health and life" of its occupants and neighbouring residents.
The council announced its decision in a statement, following a technical report. This report concluded that the building was in a state of "severe deterioration" and presented "very high structural and sanitary risks". It also highlighted the lack of basic utilities and precarious hygienic conditions within the property.
Coordinated Eviction and Support
The eviction proceeded peacefully, coordinated by the Mossos d'Esquadra, Girona's Guàrdia Urbana, and municipal social services. Temporary accommodation and assistance have been offered to those affected. They will be rehoused in reception centres or emergency housing.
The council has reaffirmed its dedication to the safety and well-being of its citizens. Officials said they would take necessary steps to ensure the building's rehabilitation and prevent future illegal occupations.
