In Girona, the GEiEG sports and cultural group has been named an Honorary Friend by the Association of Friends of the Girona Art Museum, in recognition of its long-standing contribution to the city’s sports, social and cultural life.
GEiEG, short for Grup Excursionista i Esportiu Gironí, received a commemorative medal at the ceremony. Francesc Cayuela, the group’s president, accepted it on behalf of the organisation from Josep Manuel Rueda, president of the association.
The distinction highlights GEiEG’s enduring presence in Girona and its wider role in the local community. The award is given to entities that have made a lasting positive mark on the area.
