Free Seminar Series Aims to Improve Energy Reporting

The Col·legi de Periodistes de Catalunya is hosting a free in-person seminar in Girona on Tuesday 20 October from 10:15am to 1:00pm. The event, titled "How to Talk About Energy Without Jargon", is designed for journalists and communications professionals covering energy issues. Participants will gain practical tools to report clearly and accurately on the energy transition, avoiding both technical complexity and oversimplification. The session will cover how the electricity sector works in Catalonia, current challenges, and the economic, social, and territorial impacts of the shift toward renewable energy. The seminar includes expert presentations and interactive discussions. Organisers aim to strengthen public service journalism by helping reporters convey complex energy topics to their audiences with greater clarity and context.

Regional Sessions and Optional Site Visits

This seminar is part of a broader series taking place across Catalonia. Other sessions are scheduled for:

  • 16 October: Central Catalonia (morning)
  • 22 October: Tarragona (morning)
  • 28 October: Lleida (afternoon)
  • 29 October: Terres de l’Ebre (afternoon)
  • 30 October and 6 November: Barcelona

As an optional addition, attendees may choose to visit key energy facilities such as Endesa’s Distribution Control Centre in Barcelona, the Ascó–Vandellòs nuclear power plant, hydroelectric stations at Susqueda or Estany Gento, the Pujalt wind farm, or the Vidreres photovoltaic park. Participants will be responsible for their own travel costs. The initiative is supported by the Clúster de l'Energia Eficient de Catalunya (CEEC) and Endesa. It is open to accredited journalists, media and communications professionals, public administration communications officers, and journalism students.
