Community Concert Unites Young and Professional Musicians
The Auditori de Girona will host a free concert titled 'Harmonia Mediterrània' on Sunday 18 October 2026 at 6:00 PM. The event will bring together more than 100 young musicians and professional performers from across Catalonia in a celebration of cultural diversity through music. Performers include the Orquestra Àrab de Barcelona, the Orquestra Jove de la Selva, the Orquestra de l'Anicet de Figueres, and a choir of students from Escola El Gegant del Rec in Salt. The concert will culminate in a joint performance of four specially arranged pieces by composer Aleix Puig.
Pre-Concert Talk on Cultural Rights
A talk will take place at 5:00 PM in the venue’s smaller hall, led by ConArte Internacional, the organisation behind the project. Representatives from participating groups will reflect on the importance of strengthening cultural rights and recognising cultural diversity. The event is part of the 'Escenarios Compartidos' initiative, funded by Spain’s Ministry of Culture under its Cultural Rights Plan, which supports arts projects with social impact. The project aims to connect people from different backgrounds through shared musical practice.
Harmonia Mediterrània seeks to build new connections and share different ways of understanding reality through culture.
The Orquestra Àrab de Barcelona blends classical, jazz, flamenco, and traditional music from the Maghreb and Middle East. Its members include musicians of Moroccan and Catalan origin.
Free Admission, No Booking Required
Attendance is free and no prior reservation is needed. The concert will take place in the Sala Montsalvatge at the Auditori de Girona, located at Pg. de la Devesa, 35, in central Girona. Residents and visitors are invited to attend both the talk and the concert, which highlight the role of music as a space for dialogue and coexistence.
