Five people were arrested in Barcelona’s Sarrià neighbourhood on Friday morning after a violent robbery at a jewellery shop, according to the Mossos d’Esquadra. The owner was injured and taken for medical treatment.
The incident happened shortly before 11am, when several people entered the shop and attacked the owner. For residents and nearby businesses, the immediate consequence is police activity in the area and an open criminal investigation, with officers asking anyone with information to contact the police through official channels.
What Police Confirmed
According to the Mossos d’Esquadra, plainclothes officers intervened and detained some of those involved at the scene. Several patrols and teams from the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques, SEM, also attended, and the injured owner was taken to a medical centre for treatment.
A worker from a nearby property told ACN that he heard shouting and went outside. He said that when he reached the ground floor, he found the jeweller with head wounds and covered in blood. He called 112, and a woman with medical knowledge gave first aid. The shop receptionist also suffered an anxiety attack.
