Figueres has set out its Sant Pere Festival programme for 26 to 29 June, with more than 30 activities planned across the city. The annual celebration brings together concerts, popular culture and new additions, including a candle lighting ceremony at Sant Pere Church.

The festival begins on Friday, 26 June, with a giant aquatic slide on Pujada del Castell from 5pm to 8pm. Entry is free with a ticket, which will be available from participating Comerç Figueres shops from 22 June. Later, the Cercle Sport Figuerenc will host a Sant Pere Concert at 7pm, with Combo Casino from the Casino Menestral Figuerenc. Tickets cost €10, or €7 for members of both organisations.

Also on Friday, the Espai Cívic Teatre Bon Pastor will stage the play Sopars a Venècia at 8pm, performed by the Bon Pastor theatre workshop and directed by Pep Puig. Admission is free. From 9.30pm to 11.30pm, Sant Pere Church will host the new candle lighting ceremony, part of Catalonia Sacra's Night of Churches initiative, with support from Amics de Sant Pere.

Saturday, 27 June, starts with a showcooking workshop at Figueres Market from 10am to 11.30am, at the Balcó del Mercat. The session will focus on cold starters such as watermelon carpaccio and courgette cannelloni, led by El Portal de Bàscara restaurant and La Cuina del Vent collective. It is free, but places are limited to 25 people and registration is required on the Figueres council website. More local news

Visitors can also book guided tours at Castell de Sant Ferran. The Governor's House tour runs at 10am and 12pm, while the Civil Prison tour is at 11am and 1pm. Both cost €10 and must be booked in advance through the Castell de Sant Ferran website. The festival programme also includes the Annual Gathering of Veteran Esbarts on the Rambla at 5pm, a parade with giants and pubillatge from Carrer Ample at 5.30pm, and the proclamation and farewell ceremony at 6.30pm.

Saturday evening brings a choral concert at 6pm at Asil Vilallonga's Mare de Déu dels Desemparats church, a youth debate on the Rambla Nova from 7pm to midnight, and a Sardana Cantada concert with Les Anxovetes at 8pm. Both Friday and Saturday nights will also feature late concerts in Plaça Catalunya from 11pm to 3am. The council says full details and any last-minute changes will be available on its website.
