Applications Open from 28 September
The Ajuntament de Figueres will once again allocate €10,000 in subsidies for elite-level youth athletes who are registered residents of the city. Individual athletes must have achieved outstanding results at regional Catalan, national Spanish or international competitions to qualify. Applications for the aid can be submitted between 28 September and 26 October, according to the municipal government.
Support for High-Performance Sport
Under the scheme, eligible athletes may receive financial assistance of up to €1,800. The funding aims to help cover training, competition travel and equipment costs for those competing at high levels. This support forms part of the broader sports policy led by the municipal Sports Service, which also collaborates with the Consell Esportiu de l'Alt Empordà on school-based initiatives.
After-School Multi-Sports Programme Runs October–May
Separately, the after-school multi-sport programme for primary school children will run from October to May across several schools in Figueres. Organised by the municipal Sports Service with support from the Consell Esportiu de l'Alt Empordà, it includes activities such as athletics, football, basketball, tennis, badminton and fencing. The initiative focuses on motor, personal and emotional development, promoting positive values through cooperative and competitive physical activity. It is designed to align with each school’s educational project where possible. Children enrolled in participating schools including Escola Amistat, Escola Salvador Dalí and Institut Escola Pous i Pagès will have access to these extracurricular sessions.
Our goal is for sport to form part of each pupil's integral education, as well as providing accessible sporting practice within the city.
