In Figueres, authorities detected electricity fraud in 16 homes during joint inspections in the Sant Joan neighbourhood on 12 June 2026. The checks involved Endesa, the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Guàrdia Urbana.

Officials said 16 of the 30 homes inspected showed irregular connections. Those properties were disconnected from the power supply straight away.

In a separate operation, the Guàrdia Urbana and Mossos d'Esquadra acted at two establishments on Narcís Soler and Méndez Núñez streets. The City Council described both premises as problematic and said they had generated many complaints from neighbours.

That second operation led to four fines for different offences and two immigration citations, according to the council. The actions form part of ongoing joint controls in Figueres to respond to complaints and detected breaches in different parts of the municipality.

The City Council said the work is intended to improve public safety and make sure regulations are followed across the city. For more local reporting, see our news coverage.
