Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), the Catalan public railway operator, has awarded a €19.95 million contract, excluding VAT, to build the future TramCamp operations centre in Vila-seca. The 20-month project will provide the control, maintenance and stabling facilities for the Tramvia del Camp de Tarragona.
For residents and future tram users in Cambrils, Salou and Vila-seca, the centre is intended to support operation of the scheme’s current first phase. It has also been designed to allow future extensions of the service towards Tarragona and Reus, according to FGC.
Centre planned between Ramon d'Olzina avenue and the A-7
The contract has been awarded to the COALVI-ACISA joint venture. The 6,336-square-metre centre will be built on land between Ramon d'Olzina avenue and the A-7 in Vila-seca, in the Tarragonès comarca.
- Contract value: €19.95 million, excluding VAT.
- Construction period: 20 months.
- Facilities: a maintenance workshop, tram stabling area and offices for commercial, technical and administrative operations.
- Funding: the contract is co-financed through the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund programme for Catalonia for 2021–2027.

Designed for a wider tram network
FGC said the Vila-seca centre will support the first TramCamp section between Cambrils, Salou and Vila-seca. Its design allows for later expansion if the network is extended to Tarragona and Reus.
