Barcelona firefighters attended a partial collapse at the former Fecsa building in Poble-sec on Sunday, 24 May, after a section of the top floor gave way near the Tres Xemeneies.
No injuries were reported. Firefighters found rubble at the site, but confirmed that the collapse did not affect the main Tres Xemeneies building itself.
Mossos d’Esquadra officers also attended the scene. After checking the area, firefighters ended their intervention and left the site.
The Fecsa building was once part of the electricity company’s complex. The Tres Xemeneies, or Three Chimneys, remain one of Barcelona’s best-known industrial landmarks. For background on the area, see our news coverage.
The incident was minor and contained, but it underlines the need for regular checks on older buildings, especially those awaiting or undergoing redevelopment in Barcelona and across Catalonia.
