Thousands of people are attending the Festival of Hope in Madrid’s Carabanchel district this weekend, with the event taking place at Vistalegre Palace. Organisers expect more than 15,000 attendees for prayer and blessings led by Reverend Franklin Graham.

Graham heads the American religious organisation Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, which was founded by his father. The festival programme also includes musical performances, dancing and opportunities to share the love of Jesus Christ, according to organisers.

The event is being held in Carabanchel, a district in the south-west of Madrid, and is drawing large crowds to the area over the weekend. For background on the organiser, see the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

The festival’s focus on Christ comes as Pope Leo XIV is also scheduled to begin his trip to Spain in Carabanchel next Saturday. He is due to officiate his first act at a centre for homeless people run by Caritas, just a few blocks from Vistalegre Palace.
