Barcelona is the focus of a new opening from the Estimar restaurant group, which has launched Masia Tibidabo in the city in partnership with Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (BSM). The project brings the group’s Empordà-inspired cooking to a historic building at Tibidabo.
Estimar was founded by Rafa Zafra and Anna Gotanegra. The group says its work is built around Mediterranean produce, especially fish and seafood from Roses, along with wines, olive oil and the wider food culture of the Empordà.
The opening follows a decade of growth for the brand. Estimar began with a restaurant in Barcelona’s Born neighbourhood and later expanded to Madrid. The group says that progress has been driven by a focus on produce, service and management.
Masia Tibidabo is described by the group as more than a new restaurant, because it also marks a public-private collaboration. The partnership with BSM links the recovery of a historic space with a new hospitality project for the city.
The company says the new site reflects the same approach that shaped its earlier restaurants, with respect for local produce and a clear link to territory. It also places that approach in one of Barcelona’s most recognisable locations.
