El Vendrell, in Baix Penedès, has formally joined the Association for the Metropolitan Impulse of Camp de Tarragona, creating a stable framework for cooperation between the two areas.

The agreement is intended to strengthen the metropolitan vision of Camp de Tarragona and support a project based on inter-municipal cooperation. Officials said the aim is to respond to shared challenges across the region.

According to the association, El Vendrell’s incorporation reinforces the metropolitan vision of Camp de Tarragona. The Baix Penedès and Camp de Tarragona areas have shared services, infrastructure and long-standing links, including healthcare, university services, tourism, waste management and mobility.

The protocol formalises those existing ties and recognises the interdependence between the two areas. It is meant to help coordinate work on issues that affect residents and businesses on both sides.

Future collaboration is expected to focus on joint planning, infrastructure improvements, shared resource management and coordinated strategies for tourism and economic growth. For more local coverage, see our news page.
