Figueres is the focus of a new training scheme from the Dalí Foundation, which has announced two technical scholarships in art conservation and study. The programme is aimed at building specialist skills for work on the institution’s collection.
One scholarship is centred on preventive conservation and the restoration of sculptures and installations at the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres. It also covers the study and cataloguing of materials and techniques used in serialised works.
The second scholarship focuses on the documentation, study, cataloguing and conceptual analysis of the Foundation’s graphic works. Both placements are designed to give recipients hands-on experience with the collection and the organisation’s own resources.
Each scholarship is worth €9,000 and lasts for six consecutive months. The selected candidates will live in Figueres during the placement and work at the Foundation’s headquarters, next to the Theatre-Museum. The programme is due to start in January 2027.
Recipients will receive supervised mentoring from a specialist within the institution, tailored to the scholarship area. The Foundation says there is also a possibility of joining its team after the programme ends.
A commission chaired by Estrella de Diego, a representative of the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid, will assess and monitor the candidates during the training period. For more Catalonia-wide cultural updates, see our news tag and the Dalí Foundation website.
