A cyclist was taken to Hospital Trueta in Girona on Saturday morning after falling on a forest track in Ullastret, in the Baix Empordà area of Girona province. The man was riding with a group when the incident happened.
Emergency services received the alert at 8.56am. Two fire brigade units attended the scene and found the injured cyclist. According to the Generalitat fire brigade, he had significant bruising, but was able to be moved and taken by ambulance to hospital. He was described as being in a less serious condition on arrival.
Another rider in the same group also fell during the outing. That person had minor scratches and was taken to the Primary Healthcare Centre (CAP) in La Bisbal d'Empordà for treatment.
Forest tracks are widely used by cyclists across Catalonia, but uneven ground and loose surfaces can increase the risk of falls. Riders are generally advised to wear suitable safety gear, including helmets, and to take care on changing track conditions, especially after rain.
