Tarragona is set to host a new logistics project after Chinese firm Cosco and Argentina’s PTP announced plans to invest €116,797,090 in the Port of Tarragona. The aim is to turn the port into Cosco’s intermodal hub in Europe.

The project will centre on the Moll d'Andalusia, where Cosco plans to manage the multi-purpose terminal. Port officials said the operation could create up to 180 jobs.

The plan was presented in Tarragona by senior executives from Cosco and PTP before around 100 representatives from institutional and economic sectors. For readers following Catalonia’s wider economy, see our news coverage.

The investment is expected to support local economic activity and strengthen Catalonia’s role as a trade gateway between Europe and other markets. More details on the project timetable and operating phases are expected in the coming months.
