Girona City Council has warned residents about a scam that uses a fake municipal survey to collect personal data. The fraudsters say they are carrying out an official council survey on cleaning and waste services, according to a social media post from the council on 28 May 2026.
After getting contact details from people who take part, the scammers tell them they have won a supposed trip. They then ask for more personal information and arrange home visits with the affected individuals.
The council has urged the public to check the identity of anyone claiming to represent the municipality. Residents should not share personal details or agree to home visits from unverified callers, especially when a prize is offered.
