The Correllengua Agermanat, an initiative dedicated to defending the Catalan language, is set to arrive in Girona this Monday, 20 April, following its journey through the Alt Empordà region. A central event to mark the flame's arrival will take place in Girona's Plaça de l'U d'Octubre de 2017 (1 October 2017 Square).
Promoting Catalan Culture
The Correllengua Agermanat aims to promote and protect the Catalan language and culture across the territory. The Correllengua, a long-standing cultural tradition in Catalonia, typically involves a relay run carrying a flame, symbolising the vitality and continuity of the Catalan language. This year's 'Agermanat' (Brotherhood) edition underscores a collective commitment to linguistic defence.
The arrival in Girona marks a significant point in the flame's journey, bringing its message of linguistic support to the provincial capital and highlighting the ongoing efforts to preserve Catalan heritage.
