Cornellà de Llobregat Council has opened a new call for Local Employment Plans, aiming to hire 66 unemployed individuals on temporary contracts lasting between nine and twelve months.

The plan has a budget exceeding €1.8 million, co-financed by supramunicipal administrations such as the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) and the Barcelona Provincial Council. Most contracts will be for twelve months, though some positions will be for nine months due to their specific characteristics.

Successful applicants will work 75% of a full day and will reinforce municipal projects in areas like citizen services, education, civics, facility maintenance, and social policy support. The initiative, approved by the Local Government Board on 30 April 2026, forms part of the council's strategy to promote employment and improve employability, with a focus on sustainable job placement and assisting vulnerable groups.

Diverse Professional Profiles Sought

The council is seeking various professional profiles. For example, twelve positions are for public highway inspectors, eleven for administrative assistants, and ten for concierges. Other roles include maintenance labourers, early childhood educators, civic educators, and social integration technicians.

To be eligible, applicants must be unemployed and not have participated in another employment plan within the previous nine months. This plan strengthens the municipal employment model's shift towards a more qualitative approach, focusing on genuinely improving participants' job opportunities and meeting the needs of the local productive sector.
