Firefighters contained a fire at the Moner Cocoa chocolate factory in La Selva del Camp, Tarragona, on Sunday night, 24 May 2026.

The Generalitat fire service said it was alerted at 8.45pm to heavy smoke at the company on Carrer del Coure, in the Silva industrial estate. Eight crews were initially activated, although only six were needed to put out the blaze.

The fire was limited to about 10 square metres of waste materials in a semi-covered area. Crews then used a thermal camera to check for hot spots and ventilated the area.

Firefighters from Alcover, Reus, Valls and Tarragona were mobilised, along with units from the Emergency Region. The teams from Valls and Tarragona were not required to intervene because the situation was brought under control quickly.

Crews were able to return to their stations within two hours. For more Catalonia news, see our news coverage.
