Top wine and cellar honoured at Vinari awards
The Cérvoles Tros del Tossal 2023, a red wine made with Syrah grapes from the DO Costers del Segre, has been named the best Catalan wine of 2026 at the XIV Premis Vinari. The award was presented on Friday 3 October at the Maria Rosa Juncosa Municipal Auditorium in Vilafranca del Penedès, as confirmed by multiple reports including Segre and La Vanguardia. This vintage also received a Gran Or medal in the Red Wines with Ageing category, completing a major win for Cérvoles Celler, part of the Tomàs Cusiné group based in La Pobla de Cérvoles. The same winery previously won the top prize in 2018 with its Cérvoles Blanc 2016.
Guilera Centenari and Vallformosa win top effervescent and cellar prizes
The award for best Catalan sparkling wine went to the Guilera Centenari 2005, produced by Cava Guilera in the DO Cava region. It also earned a Gran Or in the Long-Aged White Sparkling Wines category. The winery has deep roots in the Penedès, with its founder Pere Guilera having helped establish the Sant Pau d'Ordal peach market. Vallformosa, a winery with over 150 years of history in the Penedès producing wines under both DO Cava and DO Penedès, was named best cellar. The jury highlighted that it provides work for more than 400 grape-growing families. Its managing director, Marta Vidal, has served as president of the DO Cava regulatory council since summer 2026.
The recognition reflects decades of commitment to quality viticulture and sustainable production across Catalonia’s diverse wine regions.
