Catalonia will implement random checks using electronic device detectors during the university entrance exams this June, according to El País newspaper. This initiative follows an increase in students using artificial intelligence to cheat.

Sources from the Department of Research and Universities told ACN that these detectors will ensure the "correct development of the tests". The department described it as a pilot programme to prevent fraudulent use of devices during exams. Mobile phones, smartwatches, and all other electronic devices must be switched off and stored in bags or backpacks during the examination.

El País reported that, in addition to Catalonia, frequency detectors will also be used in university entrance exams this June in Aragon, Murcia, and Galicia. These detectors will identify students using hidden devices, such as earpieces, which can be used to receive answers dictated from outside the classroom via a mobile phone acting as an antenna.
