Barcelona residents and visitors can now check live beach status before heading out, with a new online map covering beaches across Catalonia for 2026.

The tool, developed by Civil Protection and the Department of Interior of the Generalitat de Catalunya, shows current flag status for monitored beaches. It also includes water quality and jellyfish presence, so users can see conditions before they travel.

Catalonia has more than 200 lifeguard-supervised beaches, and the map shows whether each one is marked with a red, yellow or green flag. Barcelona has 10 beaches, and the search function lets people look up specific municipalities or comarcas.

To use the service, users open the Civil Protection online map and type in their chosen location. The map then shows the current status, including any warnings or advisories. The official source is the Department of Interior of the Generalitat de Catalunya, which oversees the service with Civil Protection.
