Barcelona, Catalonia, Catalan President Salvador Illa is set to be called again before the Spanish Senate’s investigation commission into the Koldo case, according to El Diario and PP leadership sources cited by ACN. It will be his second appearance before the commission.

His first appearance took place on 24 April 2024, when he was the PSC candidate for the Catalan Parliament elections. At that hearing, he defended his management of the Spanish Ministry of Health during the pandemic.

The PP holds an absolute majority in the Senate, so it can approve the request without support from other parties. The party also plans to summon other people, including the Secretary of State for Telecommunications, Antonio Hernando, former PSOE communications director Ion Antolín, and Lourdes Solís, the former head of regulatory compliance for the PSOE.

Alicia Garcia, the PP spokesperson in the Senate, is expected to announce the decision at a 12pm press conference. The names form part of a request to expand the commission’s work, with the scope set to include matters linked to the investigation into former socialist member Leire Díez.
