Festival Security Reinforced Across Key Areas
The Castelldefels Local Police, in coordination with the Mossos d'Esquadra, Civil Protection, and health services, are implementing a special security operation from 13 to 16 August during the Festa Major. Foot patrols and reinforcements will be deployed in main festival zones including concerts, parades, the correfoc, amusement park, and fireworks displays. A total of 20 officers from the Local Police and Mossos d'Esquadra will be on duty throughout the event. A permanent presence will be maintained at Teresa Claramunt square to carry out prevention, surveillance, and citizen assistance tasks.
Purple + Points to Combat Sexist and LGBT-phobic Aggressions
As part of the initiative to promote a safe and inclusive environment, the festival will feature five Purple + Points. These designated spaces will provide awareness, information, and assistance regarding sexist violence and LGBT-phobia. The initiative follows previous measures introduced during Sant Joan celebrations, such as the deployment of Rutas Seguras (Safe Routes) to prevent gender-based and homophobic incidents, according to the Ajuntament de Castelldefels.
The goal is to continue reducing the number of incidents and ensure a family-friendly atmosphere for all residents and visitors.
Traffic and Mobility Advised
Mobility in central areas will be affected during the festival due to temporary traffic restrictions. Authorities advise the public to plan journeys in advance and prioritise walking or public transport to reach event venues. The amusement park will operate daily from 18:00 to 02:00 between 13 and 16 August at Teresa Claramunt square, with music ending at midnight. A low-sensory zone will be available on the evening of Thursday 13 August from 18:00 to 21:00, offering reduced noise and lighting for visitors with sensory sensitivities. Residents and visitors can stay informed via the official Festa Major safety notice published by the Ajuntament.
