Vilajuïga’s Club Trail Running Cap de Creus recorded strong results at the second Catalan Cup event, held in Barruera, in the Vall de Boí. The race was organised by the Federació d'Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya (FEEC), and the club came away with an overall podium finish, three category victories, and several other notable placings.
Rubén Martínez, in the cadet category, finished third overall and third in his category, with a time of 36 minutes and 1 second. Jana Casellas was 19th overall, third among female competitors, and second in the cadet category, in 50 minutes and 26 seconds. Naia Liaño placed 21st overall, fifth among women, and third in cadets, finishing in 50 minutes and 28 seconds. Other cadet runners included Marçal Guardiola, 11th, and Oriol Castelló, 14th.
In the infantil age group, Gastón Trossel won his category and finished 13th overall in 41 minutes and 3 seconds. Grau Porteries was second in the infantil category. Blanca Massot finished first in the infantil category and second among female competitors. Ona Fontdecaba was second, Lily Trossel third, and Ivet Moreta fourth in the same category.
In the aleví category, Riu Cufí took first place in 1 hour, 0 minutes, and 22 seconds. Èlia Barbeta also won her aleví category, finishing in 1 hour, 1 minute, and 29 seconds.
The Catalan Cup, organised by the FEEC, will continue in September. The next event on the calendar is the Marrana Skyrace, one of the most demanding races in Catalonia, where Club Trail Running Cap de Creus will line up again.
