Barcelona library staff are due to hold an assembly in Plaça de Sant Jaume this Monday after the Barcelona City Council ended negotiations with workers, according to the committee representing employees of the Barcelona Library Consortium.

The committee has called on all consortium employees to attend. The meeting is intended to bring staff together after talks broke down, with working conditions among the issues now left unresolved.

The council’s decision to end negotiations prompted the response from workers’ representatives. The exact reasons for the breakdown were not specified.

The assembly is expected to be used to discuss the next steps for staff and to agree a common approach. If you are following local public sector disputes in Catalonia, see our news coverage.
