A motorcyclist was seriously injured on Saturday afternoon in an accident on the N-260 at Port del Cantó, in Montferrer i Castellbò, in the Alt Pirineu i Aran area of Catalonia. The Catalan Traffic Service (SCT) said the incident was reported at 11:53am.
The crash happened at kilometre 248.3 of the road. Emergency services sent two units from the Generalitat Fire Brigade, two patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra, and an air ambulance plus two ground ambulances from the Medical Emergency System (SEM).
After initial treatment at the scene, the injured motorcyclist was taken to Arnau de Vilanova Hospital in Lleida for further care. Officials said the injuries were serious and required immediate hospital treatment.
Authorities have not said what caused the accident. The Mossos d'Esquadra are expected to investigate the circumstances of the collision. For more Catalonia-wide local news, see our news page.
