Increased Frequency on C1 Route
From 1 October, the C1 interurban bus service connecting Castellar del Vallès and Sabadell will reduce its peak-hour intervals from 10 to 8 minutes on weekdays. The change, part of the Catalan government's second bus reinforcement action plan, aims to address rising demand and improve connectivity between the two municipalities. The revised timetable will extend peak service hours, now running from 7:00 to 9:48 in the morning and 14:00 to 19:36 in the afternoon, according to the Consell Comarcal del Vallès Occidental. This adjustment increases the number of daily trips by 28–14 in each direction, bringing the total to 206 daily services.
Part of Broader Transport Push
This upgrade is one of 13 bus line improvements rolled out between September and October under the Generalitat’s second-phase transport shock plan. The initiative forms part of a wider €21.4 million investment to strengthen interurban bus services across Catalonia, particularly on corridors experiencing high passenger growth. The Department of Territory and Sustainability has prioritised routes with heavy commuter and student use, especially those linking to educational and healthcare centres. The C1 route, operated by Moventis and used by over 1.2 million passengers in 2025, has been identified as a key corridor requiring enhanced capacity.
Official Investment and Ongoing Adjustments
Sílvia Paneque, Minister for Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, confirmed the measure during a public announcement in Badia del Vallès on 4 September. The annual cost of reinforcing the C1 line is estimated at €153,195.25, fully funded by the Generalitat. The move follows similar upgrades on other regional lines, including the B6 service between Sabadell, Barberà del Vallès, Badia and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, which added an extra morning and evening trip from 7 September.
