Supermarket group Bon Preu has reported an 8% increase in sales for the 2025 financial year, closing with €2.6115 billion in turnover and a net profit of €132.2 million, a 63% rise from the previous year’s €81 million.

The figures, covering the period up to 28 February 2025, place Bon Preu’s net margin at 5% of sales, significantly above sector averages and surpassing even Mercadona’s 2025 net margin of 4.5%, according to reports by El Periódico and ARA.

Bon Preu operates more than 220 stores across its Bonpreu, Esclat, and EsclatOil brands, and also generates revenue through green energy via Bonpreu Esclat Energia. The company attributed its strong performance to a business model focused on competitiveness, proximity, and shared value creation for customers, employees, and society.

Workforce and public contributions

In the past year, Bon Preu increased its workforce by 6%, reaching 11,868 employees. The company distributed €40.4 million in bonuses and variable pay, reinforcing its commitment to quality employment.

“We continue driving policies to generate quality jobs and support professional development,” stated Bon Preu.

The group contributed €112.7 million to public administrations in the last fiscal year: €42.6 million in taxes and €70.1 million in social security payments.

Investment in infrastructure and sustainability

Bon Preu invested €150 million in 2025 to expand its store network and upgrade logistics, bringing its total investment in Catalonia over the past decade to more than €1.34 billion.

A key project is the new logistics platform in Montblanc (Conca de Barberà), approved recently by the local council. The first phase, budgeted at €34 million, begins this month and will include two warehouses: one of 26,500 m² for packaged goods and another of 13,600 m² for fresh products. The full complex is expected to cost €204 million and enter full operation in the first half of 2028.

This follows the acquisition of Danone’s former factory in Parets del Vallès in November 2024, where Bon Preu plans to invest €30 million to develop an online-focused logistics centre in partnership with Ocado.

  • Current network: 140 Bonpreu, 64 Esclat, 17 minimarkets
  • 70 EsclatOil petrol stations
  • Online delivery available to six million people
  • 30 collection points for online orders
  • 84 photovoltaic self-consumption installations (15,190 kWp)
  • 378 electric vehicle charging points

The company aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and recycled 11,752 tonnes of paper in 2025 while donating 382,948 kg of food worth nearly €1 million to social organisations.
