In Girona, Bàsquet Girona will finish the season in 12th place, its best position in four years in the top flight, regardless of the result of Friday’s match against Joventut.

The final fixture is scheduled for 8.30pm. The club now has one last chance to set a new record for wins, with its current best standing at 14 victories.

That target comes after a difficult run, with four straight defeats and seven losses in the last eight matches. Even so, the club says a win would help close out the season on a positive note.

Officials have described the campaign as the best year in the club’s history, and a victory on Friday would add to that finish. For more local sports coverage, see our news page.
