Barcelona's city centre will face extensive traffic disruptions this Sunday, 10 May, as the annual El Corte Inglés Race takes place. The event, expecting around 50,000 participants, will start at 9am and is projected to continue until 2pm, affecting morning traffic throughout the city, according to Diari de Girona.

The race route includes major thoroughfares such as Passeig de Gràcia, Rambla de Catalunya, Diagonal, and Passeig de Colom. These closures will necessitate traffic diversions on several adjacent roads, potentially causing congestion and mobility challenges for residents and visitors.

Public Transport Alterations

To help reduce inconvenience, alternative routes have been established. Officials recommend that citizens use public transport for travel during Sunday morning. Specifically, 40 urban bus lines will have their usual routes modified to maintain service continuity where possible.

Authorities have asked for patience and public cooperation to help the sporting event run smoothly. The race is intended to be a celebration for the city and its inhabitants once again.
