Barcelona will see major traffic disruptions and public transport alterations on Sunday, 10 May, for the 46th edition of La Cursa El Corte Inglés. The popular race, which expects around 50,000 participants, will close numerous central streets from 5am until 2pm, with roads reopening progressively after the event concludes, according to El Periódico Barcelona.
The race route starts at Plaça de la Reina Maria Cristina, then proceeds along Avinguda Diagonal, Carrer de Balmes, Carrer de Rosselló, Avinguda Diagonal again, Carrer Bruc, Carrer de Mallorca, Passeig de Gràcia, Carrer d'Aragó, Carrer de Calàbria, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, Passeig de Sant Joan, and Ronda de Sant Pere, before finishing at Plaça de Catalunya. All these roads will be closed to traffic during the event.
Public Transport Changes
Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has confirmed that several bus and tram lines will alter their routes or have limited service on Sunday morning. The affected bus lines include D40, D50, H6, H8, H10, H12, H16, V3, V5, V7, V9, V11, V13, V15, V17, V19, V21, 6, 7, 19, 22, 24, 27, 33, 34, 39, 47, 54, 55, 59, 63, 67, 68, 78, 113, 141, and both the blue and red lines of the Barcelona Bus Turístic.
Commuters are advised to use the metro as an alternative. For those heading to the race's starting area, the Maria Cristina station on Line 3 (L3) offers direct access. The progressive lifting of road closures will allow for a gradual return to normal transport services throughout the afternoon.
