Valls, in the Camp de Tarragona region, will host its beloved Christmas Market and FICAP 2025 on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 December. This unique fair, one of the few remaining in Catalonia, combines the traditional sale of farm-raised poultry with a wide selection of artisan and Christmas products, according to Valls officials.
The city centre, specifically El Pati and the streets of La Cort and Jaume Huguet, will become the hub of activity. Around 50 stalls will fill the streets with festive aromas and colours. Visitors can find essential items for the holidays, including nativity figures, 'tions' (Catalan Christmas logs), fir trees, plants, handmade decorations, nougat, sweets, wines, and cavas.
One of the main attractions will again be the sale of live poultry, such as capons, turkeys, chickens, geese, and ducks. A slaughter service will be available on-site, allowing purchases to be prepared the same day.
Festive Activities and Shopping
The market will operate from 10am to 9pm on Saturday and until 8pm on Sunday. The event includes a full programme of cultural and family activities. Highlights include the Young Art Market on Saturday from 10am to 9pm in Plaça Pere Català Roca, a monumental nativity scene at the Catalan Casteller Museum, and exhibitions by the Institut d'Estudis Vallencs.
Visitors can also tour the city's heritage sites, including the Roser Chapel, the air-raid shelter, and the Sant Joan bell tower. The traditional fruit and vegetable market in Plaça de l'Oli will also join the festivities on Saturday morning.
This market marks the start of the Christmas season in Valls and kicks off an extensive calendar of events. These include the street light switch-on, the Shop Window Exhibition, various exhibitions, concerts, 'Pastorets' performances, a Christmas Park for children, and the Three Kings Parade. Additionally, several commercial establishments will open on Sundays in December to help with Christmas shopping.
