Barcelona's network of study rooms is extending its opening hours to help students prepare for the 2026 university entrance exams, known as Selectivitat, and other final school assessments. This move provides more access for students across the city, according to betevé.

The 10 permanent study rooms, available year-round, will have longer hours on the weekend before the Selectivitat exams, scheduled for 9, 10, and 11 June 2026. Students can check the real-time capacity of these rooms, along with their addresses and specific opening times, on an interactive map provided by Barcelona City Council.

Checking Room Availability

Consulting the map before travelling is useful, especially during exam season. The interactive tool shows live updates on available chairs and current occupancy. While some rooms close in the evening, others remain open until 23:00 or even later.

Most study rooms are located within municipal libraries. However, some are also found in youth facilities, such as the room at the Centre d'Informació i Assessorament per a Joves (CIAJ) in El Raval. Standard opening hours from Monday to Thursday are typically 20:30 to 0:00. Exceptions include rooms in Ciutat Vella and Sant Martí, which open from 20:00 to 23:30.

Some facilities, like the Sala Vapor Vell in Sants-Montjuïc and the Esquerra de l'Eixample – Agustí Centelles room, also open on Sundays. This variety in locations and schedules offers flexibility for students with different study needs.
