Two drivers were arrested for drink-driving in Alt Empordà on the same morning, according to local police. One was a lorry driver on the AP-7 motorway, while the other, who did not hold a valid licence, crashed into a National Police vehicle.
Mossos d'Esquadra officers arrested the first driver, a 44-year-old man, at 6am on Sunday, 3 May, on the AP-7 near Llers. He tested positive for alcohol with a reading of 0.74 mg/l, nearly five times the legal limit of 0.15 mg/l for professional drivers.
Second Arrest in La Jonquera
The second driver, a 36-year-old man, was arrested at 7am on the same day in La Jonquera. This individual collided with a National Police car and subsequently failed an alcohol test, registering 0.61 mg/l. This reading is almost four times the general legal limit in Spain. Furthermore, officials confirmed he did not possess a valid driving licence.
Both men were detained on charges related to road safety offences and have since been brought before a judge.
