Police in Barcelona and Sant Adrià de Besòs arrested four people and identified 150 others on Wednesday during an anti-recidivism operation.

Officers said the people identified had a combined 1,182 prior offences. The operation, called Kanpai, is aimed at tackling repeat offending in the area.

The action took place in Barcelona’s Sant Martí district and in Sant Adrià de Besòs, with police focusing on people who frequently commit offences.

Authorities have stepped up efforts against repeat offending in urban areas, using targeted checks and a stronger police presence in places with higher crime levels.
