Barcelona Port opened its doors to the public on 30 May 2026, with a programme of visits and events aimed at bringing residents closer to one of Catalonia’s key pieces of infrastructure.

All 5,000 tickets sold out quickly. Port president José Alberto Carbonell said, “Demand is infinite. The fact that visits sold out in six hours shows that people want to get to know us, and that’s why we must continue.”

The programme included three kinds of visits, land tours through the restricted commercial port area, maritime tours on the golondrines boats, and theatrical historical walking routes. There were also shows, concerts and traditional boat trips.

A new feature this year was a ship parade, with working vessels such as pilot boats and tugboats performing to music for the first time. This year also brought the first public visits to the Llobregat lighthouse.

Port Police took part as well, showing how they monitor and control the port service area, including jetties and parts of the seafront promenade. Officers demonstrated drone surveillance technology and vehicles, and children were able to sound horns and try on police uniforms.

The weekend programme continued on Sunday with the tenth edition of the KM against Cancer Deichmann charity race, which took participants through the port. For more Catalonia-wide news, see News.
