This Saturday, 16 May, from 7pm to 1am, La Nit dels Museus (Museum Night) will open 94 cultural spaces across Barcelona and its metropolitan area. The popular event offers free entry and special programmes, allowing the public to explore collections and participate in unique activities.
This year's edition introduces new participating venues, according to Barcelona City Council. These include the Gran Hotel Barcino and cultural centres La Bòbila and La Florida 6.0 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. Visitors can also rediscover recently renovated or inaugurated sites, such as the Montjuïc Castle Interpretation Centre and two Barcelona History Museum spaces: Casa de l'Aigua and Fabra i Coats.
Special Commemorations and Activities
The event also marks the 700th anniversary of the Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Pedralbes, which will be a key attraction. This provides an exceptional chance to visit the emblematic monastery during a significant year for the institution.
Beyond open doors, Museum Night 2026 features an extraordinary programme with concerts, shows, installations, workshops, projections, and guided tours. These activities aim to offer a different perspective on museums and cater to all ages. Special attention is given to young audiences, with specific activities highlighted in the programme to encourage their participation.
Metropolitan Reach and Key Locations
Montjuïc mountain, with eleven open venues, is expected to be a major hub for the night's activities. L'Hospitalet de Llobregat is also expanding its presence with a broader range of offerings. The celebration extends to other metropolitan towns, including Badalona, Cornellà de Llobregat, Esplugues de Llobregat, Sant Adrià de Besòs, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, and Sant Joan Despí, reinforcing the event's metropolitan scope.
